Top Five | Global Market Share of Smartphone


Global Smartphone sales have been declined by 1.7 percent in the second quarter of this year from April to June. According to a market research report of the famous firm Gartner Inc., in the second quarter of 2019, 360.8 million units of Smartphones were sold around the globe.

The demand for mid and low-range Smartphones is growing up due to some addition of multiple lenses, bezel-less display, large battery etc which are features of premium phones. The sales of premium Smartphones have been decreasing. Based on the report, in the second quarter of the year South Korea's Samsung and China's Huawei are at the first and second position among the top five brands Smartphone in the market.


Samsung:
At the top of the Smartphone market, Samsung has hold the position. According to Gartner, Samsung has sold 75 million units of smartphone and occupied 20.5 percent of the market share. During the same period last year, the company sold 72 million units and occupied 19.5 percent of the market. Samsung's Galaxy A series has done well in this regard and at the same time the demand for Samsung's S10 model has started to decline. Gartner's analysts predict that keeping pace with growth in the coming years will be a challenge for Samsung.


Huawei:
China’s Huawei holds the second position in the Smartphone market. From April to June 2019, Huawei sold 58 million units of Smartphones and occupied 15.80 percent of the global market. In the previous year, Huawei occupied 13.30 percent of the market by selling 49.8 million units. Huawei's growth rate in this year is better.


iPhone:
iPhone maker Apple is ranked number three in the Global Smartphone market. Sales of iPhones have been declining for some previous years. However, iPhone sales increased in the second quarter compared to the first quarter in this year. In the second quarter of the year 38 million units of iPhone were sold and they occupied 10.50 percent of the market. Last year Apple occupied 11.90 percent of the market.


Xiaomi:
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is currently holding up the number four position in the Smartphone market. The company sold 33.1 million units of Xiaomi Smartphones in the last quarter and occupied 9.00 percent of the market. In the same period of last year, they sold 32.8 million units of phones and were occupied around 8.00 percent of the total Smartphone market.


Oppo:
The number five is holds by another Chinese company Oppo. In the second quarter of the year, Oppo was ranked fifth by selling 28.1 million units of smartphones with 7.60 percent market share. Last year, Oppo sold 28.5 million units Smartphone across the globe.
