Chip
maker giant Intel is going to start their framework to manufacture the next
generation Smartphone processor 'SilverMont'. Intel said that Silvermont
infrastructure-based processors will be specially designed for Smartphones and
tablets to show improved performance.
UK
chip manufacturer ARM is now dominating the mobile processor market around the world.
Some big companies such as Qualcomm, Nvdia, Mediatek, Apple and Samsung makes
microprocessors for mobile phones using ARM technology.
To
compete with ARM, Intel has announced making of the next generation 'SilverMont'
mobile micro-processor architecture.
In
future, Intel can build next-generation Atom processors 'Bay Trail' and
'Merrifield', based on the Silvermont architecture. These processors will be
compatible with Smartphone’s and tablets. Intel said the Baytrail processor
made for the tablets will come to market by the end of this year, and the Merrifield
processor for Smartphones will come to the market in the year 2014.
In
2008 Intel unveiled the framework of the Atom processor for the cell phones.
Nearly after five years later on 7 May 2013, Intel announced to create new
mobile processor technology.
Intel
claims that the new processors will be three times faster and five times more
energy efficient than the ones currently available on the market. At present, most
of the Smartphones uses dual core and tablets uses quad core processors. The
new generation processors will have more than eight cores.
