After
a long wait the National Identity Card Gateway 'porichoy' (www.porichoy.gov.bd)
to check National Identity Card (NID) has been officially launched on
Wednesday, 17th July, 2019. The Prime Minister's Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy inaugurated the
ceremony at Agargaon's ICT Tower in Dhaka.
As
a chief guest Sajeeb Wazed Joy said on the ceremony, “my dream is that people of
the country will no need to go to the government offices to get various
services. As a part of this, our successful venture with the private sector
partnership we have launched this NID checking service”.
The
ICT State Minister of the country Junaid Ahmed Palak said that under the
leadership of Prime Minister's Information Technology Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy,
the government has digitized various types of services for the citizen and the
Porichoy is such as a breakthrough. The minister also said, “We were working on
'porichoy' under his leadership for a long time and from today it is open for
everyone. Since the formation of the government, we have been working to bring
variety of public services to the doorstep of the people. This kind of demonstration
is such a service.
The
Secretary of ICT Division N M Jiaul Alam, Managing Director of Bangladesh
High-Tech Park Authority Hosne Ara Begum, Policy Advisor of A2I program Anir
Chowdhury and other senior officials of the ICT Departments were present in the
inauguration.
Note
that Porichoy is a gateway server which is associated with the national database
of Election Commission of Bangladesh. It is an application programming that
allows customers of a public or private organization to check their national
identity card (NID) instantly. They don’t to wait for 3 to 5 days as before.
In
the current process, the companies manually verify the National Identity Card
Information by logging in to the Election Commission website. Many
organizations do not even scrutinize the NID because they do not have access to
the NID database of Election Commission.
But
using the newly inaugurated porichoy gateway, it does not require any human to
verify national ID. If any company connects with the gateway server through the
software, NID identification results will be received automatically.
Those
who now need to open a bank account, digital Wallet account, or where NID card
require at work, they will be greatly benefited. For them it will be easy and
time consuming. Registering your own name will not suffocate for verification.
This will immediately detect fake IDs and prevent fraud and make services more
secure.
The
'Porichoy gateway' will keep privacy and security for the user and will speed
up the working process by reducing the national identity card verification.
Initially
the user (company / organization) need to sign up for this service in www.porichoybd.com to test the API. Then
the user will receive an email walking through the service within 24 hours to
guide you through the process.
